Outline
Learners will study fundamental principles of medical and biomedical science, including human anatomy and physiology, laboratory techniques and procedures, disease processes and their diagnosis, health and safety in medical environments, and data analysis and scientific reporting. Optional units may cover topics such as microbiology, molecular biology, or clinical biochemistry.
Assessment
The course assessment is primarily through a combination of coursework assignments and practical tasks. Some units may include externally set assignments or exams. Learners complete projects, reports, and practical evaluations to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. The assessments are designed to reflect real-world medical science scenarios and laboratory practices.
Entry Requirements
Typically, learners are expected to have a minimum of four GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C), including English and Science. Some centres may require additional criteria such as an interview or prior experience in science subjects. A strong interest in science and healthcare is recommended.
