Students studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics at Pendleton Sixth Form College have access to refurbished laboratories and a highly experienced and qualified team of teachers, including six with PhDs in their subject specialisms. There is a strong enrichment programme, including the STEM Academy, Nuffield Research Placements, Science Society and Physics XL, as well as trips, competitions and guest speakers.

Students will have the option to decide between studying A-Levels, single vocational A-Levels, or triple vocational A-Levels. A-Level courses are for students who would like to embark on rigorous academic study in preparation for prestigious universities. Single Vocational A-Levels offer the academic rigour of traditional A-Levels, coupled with practical elements of Triple Vocational A-Levels. Triple Vocational A-Levels develop our students’ employability skills by combining practical work and study, preparing them for a career in the subject they choose.

Throughout each academic year, students of Pendleton Sixth Form College are visited by guest speakers from different sectors to talk to the students about their experience in the industry and how they got to where they are today.
Some examples of guest speakers that have visited Pendleton Sixth Form College are The University of Salford talking to our English Literature students about the play Othello by William Shakespeare, scientists from NASA came all the way from the Goddard Space Centre to talk to students from different subjects about the wonders of the universe. JMW Solicitors spoke to our humanities in depth about how four lawyers went from apprentices to partners in a law firm, and Salford Business School had lunch with our business, economics, finance and law students.
These visits and talks give our students a chance to hear stories from the inside of a working company and listen to the hard work and dedication that goes into the jobs and roles that they want in the future.
