Reporting a

Student Absence

at Pendleton Sixth Form College

If your young person is going to be absent from College, this must be reported by a parent or guardian. Students should not report their own absence.

To ensure we can record attendance accurately and provide the right support, absences must be reported at the start of the day, before the student’s first lesson.

You can report an absence using the online form or via the Parent Portal.

Why Attendance Matters

Good attendance is essential for students to make progress, achieve their qualifications, and get the most from their time at college. Being in college regularly helps students:

  • Keep up with coursework and preparation for exams
  • Build confidence and develop good routines
  • Access support from teachers and our pastoral teams
  • Prepare for future employment, apprenticeships, or university

We understand that sometimes absences are unavoidable. However, we closely monitor attendance and punctuality, and we may contact parents/guardians if attendance becomes a concern. Where needed, we will work with students and families to provide support and help improve attendance.

Thank you for helping us support your young person’s success.

We are able to offer financial assistance and advice to both school leaver students and adult learners who choose to study with us.

The options available are depending on your personal circumstances, so if you feel you need some further advice other than what is included on this website, please feel free to speak to a member of our Student Services Team.
